Successful Trip

The StoneWater Team had a wonderful time in Kenya as they fed the hungry, clothed the naked, visited those in prison, loved the orphans, and ministered to "the least of these..." Our eyes were opened and our hearts were broken over and over again as we saw poverty beyond measure and yet joy on the faces of children who had experienced trauma beyond our comprehension. We participated in children-led home devotions, and shared the love of Jesus with children in a detention center. We prayed with 6 children as they trusted Christ as their Lord & Savior. We will never be the same again. Thanks for your prayers for all of us: Gerald & Lovena Stein, Paul & Susie Drake, Lloyd & Mari Eisenrich, Melba White, Regina Riemondi, Tom & Laura Garrett. Please continue to pray for Laura as she is staying in Kenya for 3 months.

WELCOME

Kenya is an East African land of beauty - beautiful scenery, beautiful climates, and beautiful people groups. But it is also a land stricken with poverty, illness, spiritual starvation, and injustice. StoneWater is doing something about this by partnering with Open Arms International. In 2011 StoneWater sent almost 50 people on mission to Kenya in 4 different mission trips.

Open Arms International is a Christ-centered interdenominational humanitarian organization dedicated to raising children who have been orphaned by AIDS, violence, disease, or other tragedies in East Africa, in an effort to help these children reach their full potential in Christ. The mission is to put flesh on the Gospel of Jesus Christ by providing relief from spiritual, physical, and emotional suffering through medical expertise and Christian ministry. Open Arms will create secure and productive “Village Communities” that raise, feed, clothe, house, care for, and educate these children to become the next generation of leaders in their country - leaders in government, business, medicine, ministry and law for the betterment of Kenya, Africa, and the world.

The first of these villages, Open Arms Village, in Eldoret, Kenya, is more than halfway complete and and will be home to some 175 vulnerable children when complete. The children live in family homes with Kenyan house parents and attend school in the village at Open Arms Academy. When this prototype village is complete it will also include a clinic, and a conference/worship center. People from StoneWater are partnering with Open Arms by going on mission trips, by donating money and items, by financially sponsoring children, and by praying for this ministry.
